Chairman

Message from the Chairman (2011-2012):

RAIS has just began the 12th year of service to the community, providing quality education. When I look back, the past year has been a year of challenges, accomplishments, concerns and, above all, filled with many fold blessings from God. We praise God for His continuous guidance and blessings in accomplishing the mission of our school.

Once again the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) has extended RAIS accreditation until 2013 along with a notification that there will be an Interim Visit in 2013, with the anticipation of having the full evaluation in 2016. RAIS’ next evaluation by the National Standards and Quality Assessment (ONESQA) is due in 2014. These continuous assessments provide the assurance to parents that we meet the needed requirements and standards in providing the best education possible to your children. RAIS has applied to be a member of East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) and the papers are being processed. The Executive Director of EARCOS is due to visit RAIS soon.

More than any other year, last year we have witnessed major disasters such as earthquakes, tsunami, floods, people against people, etc. As Christians, we believe that these are last day signs of our Lord’s return as mentioned in the Bible. At this juncture, I want to thank the parents and friends who lent their hands in supporting the people who were affected by the above stated calamities locally and internationally. As we have displayed in our website, all donations received were dispatched promptly with student representatives through the designated charities.

In May 2011, 53 students graduated, out of which 20 are College Preparatory Diploma holders in Medicine and Engineering. To my knowledge, almost all of them have found universities here in Thailand or abroad. At the beginning of this year, there are 79 students in grade 12, the largest batch of students in the RAIS graduating class, thus far.

There are a lot of new faces in our service departments such as cafeteria, clerical staff, public relations, and front office staff. The changes were made to provide our students with better service. We have a qualified faculty with some new faces representing 11 nationalities and they cater to the student body consisting of 24 nationalities. As we begin the new school year, we have purchased a substantial amount of instructional resources including Apple computers and cameras for photography students. Music department was provided “Hand Bells” for the bell choir.

While we emphasize academic excellence, our Physical Education Department provides needed training and opportunities for our students to excel in sports and games. This year we have created a new department, Activities and Support Programs with a coordinator in-charge, to cater to these needs. We have developed playground facilities and purchased more physical education equipment. Last year, our sports teams won 17 championships out of 22 matches organized by the International Schools Athletic Association (ISAA) of Thailand. Another student got a silver medal for golf from ISAT International Schools Junior Golf Championship 2011. We are proud of our students who excel both in academics and sports.

I am grateful to my fellow administrators for their commitment and dedication to the tasks assigned to them. I sincerely thank all my faculty and staff for their contribution in carrying out the responsibilities for the success of RAIS. I express my heartfelt gratitude to our students and their parents for choosing Ramkhamhaeng Advent International School as a place of study. Suggestions of parents for the development of this institution are most welcome.

Finally, I praise God for His guidance and sustaining grace, not only for the past year but for the eleven years of RAIS history; may I request you to continue to pray as Ramkhamhaeng Advent International School moves forward, while meeting the challenges, in providing Christian education.
