EFL Entrance Criteria

The Registrar’s Office administers an entrance test and interview to all students who wish to join RAIS. Based on the performance of the students in the entrance test and interview, the Registrar recommends the students to join the mainstream or EFL classes.
Placement – The students are placed in levels based on the age and the grade level completed. At the beginning of the school year, EFL teachers monitor the students’ performance in Language skills for a week. If there is a need to change the level of the students, the teacher contacts the EFL Coordinator with supporting information. The EFL Coordinator seeks the approval of the Principal and informs the teacher of the decision. If a student’s level is to be changed, the EFL Coordinator informs the Registrar’s Office about the change. As per the school policy, students are required to be in a level for a year before a decision is taken to promote them to regular grades or transfer them to the next higher level in EFL

EFL Promotion/Exit Criteria

Test – During the fourth quarter, the Registrar’s Office prepares the test (written) for all the levels. EFL Teachers administer this test at the specified date. This test helps to determine students for promotion to regular grade levels.
Scoring – The test is scored by the Registrar’s Office and the results are sent to the EFL teachers. The passing score is 60%
Interview – During the fourth quarter, the EFL Coordinator interviews students from all levels and the results are sent to the Registrar’s Office.
Promotion – Teachers will be given the grades of the three quarters, final interview results, and the test results. If the results from the three quarters’ exam, test, and the final interview are satisfactory, the EFL teachers recommend students to be promoted to regular grades. Otherwise, the students are transferred to the next higher level in EFL.
Transitional Period: Summer School – All EFL students who are promoted to regular grade levels are required to take the summer school. This is to help the EFL students to get acquainted with the regular grade level classes during the summer.

Progress Reports

Report cards of each student’s progress are issued after the final exams at the end of each quarter. Only parents/guardians are authorized to collect the report cards during parent-teacher conferences.
