Science Fair

An overwhelming participation brought this year’s Science Fair to a new level of excitement and fun.  In conjunction with the theme, Explore and Discover, the display of posters, research projects, and inventions by EFL, elementary school, middle school as well as high school students on the 27th of March 2009, is ample proof that they are capable of employing their abilities of exploring and discovering in the realm of science.
The science fair displays were divided into three main categories which were; science posters, research projects, and inventions/experiments.  These basic categories, the Science Fair Committee intentionally mooted as a tool to unearth the full potentials and skills of students, particular in this field.
Science teachers from all grade levels participated in evaluating and judging the various displays at both the venues, the school’s auditoriums. Mrs. Meriam from the principal’s office was impressed by the students’ vast knowledge, creativity, and their well-integrated facts and data presented. “The kids manage to make an impression through their research projects and organizational skills,” said Mr. Nick Borg. “It was an excellent program,” Mr. Saju quoted as he walked by the hallway. Both student participants and viewers shared their thoughts of the Science Fair.  Prim from 9B, Kwan from 8A and Perry from 8D, relayed their experiences and were amazed by the presentation of new and interesting technologies. Perry personally mentioned his admiration of Billy’s (9B) presentation of the Freon Gas. It was a fantastic feeling, entering the elementary school auditorium, being astounded by the work of the younger students.  Even though at the beginning it seemed like a difficult task for the lower grade students, they later demonstrated otherwise. No Joke!  They knew what they were doing!
The Science Fair Committee was delighted with the success of the program and has started suggesting new ideas for next year’s fair.  Unfortunately, the results will only be announced next week due to the intense competition and tight scores. The Science Fair Committee would like to convey their sincere thanks and gratitude to the wonderful individuals, teachers, and students for their generous support, effort, and suggestions for the program.  We apologize for any inconvenience and disruption of classes during the program.
